Background
The Swedish healthcare company Min Doktor was founded by doctors as Sweden’s first digital healthcare provider in 2013 offering digital care meetings. Since 2018, the company also runs physical health clinics throughout the country and about twenty care and vaccination clinics. “With the help of modern technology and constant innovation, we together develop digital and physical care, with a focus on high medical quality and patient safety. We create efficient care processes that both increase the availability of care and free up resources so that society is able to meet tomorrow’s care needs.”

During the spring of 2021 Dermicus and Min Doktor initiated a collaboration for the management of patients with skin lesions. The aim for Min Doktor was by using Dermicus as a teledermatology platform to be able to effectively and with high quality, handle patients with suspicious skin lesions, and to detect malignant melanoma at an early stage.
Implementation of Dermicus
Dermicus AB delivers Dermicus platform, training, and implementation support. Nurses at Min Doktor’s clinics document and photograph skin lesions using the Dermicus app on their mobile phone and a dermatoscope. The patient information and images are sent to Dermicus’ web application where Min Doktor’s doctor perform remote analysis, assessment, and recommendation for action.
“The collaboration with Gnosco (now Dermicus) benefits not only Min Doktor and our patients, but also the continued development of new solutions. This is how we should all work, together, to move forward developing efficient and safe patient pathways.”
Daniel Persson, Head of Innovation and Partnership, Min Doktor
Gradual implementation
Min Doktor has over twenty drop-in physical care and vaccination clinics across Sweden. The clinics are managed and staffed mainly by nurses, and doctors are always available at a distance.
As a first step in the introduction, in April 2021, three of Min Doktor’s care and vaccination clinics; Borås, Linköping and in Västerås, were the first to start to document and photograph skin lesions with Dermicus and sent to Min Doktor’s clinicians for assessment and recommendation for action. During May and June, Dermicus was introduced gradually, and implemented at more than 30 clinics around Sweden in 2021.
“I am really impressed by Min Doktor’s quality thinking and that they understand what it takes to implement a care process for teledermatology. Min Doktor recognise the importance of a dedicated digital platform, support, and training – all parts are needed for a successful implementation of teledermatology with scale.”
Daniel Eliasson, COO Dermicus

Teledermatology at summer clinics
During May 2021, Min Doktor opened eleven summer clinics, located outside ICA stores (ICA is the leading national grocery retailer in Sweden). A private patient service for checking suspicions skin lesions using Dermicus, offered peace of mind service for patients when they are travelling away from their primary care clinic. The visits were made as drop-in and the summer clinics in 2021 were open until 21 August at Tuesday-Friday 10-18 and Saturday 10–16.
