Kortrijk, Belgium, Barco announced a new partnership between its Demetra skin imaging systems business with MediPortal, the Belgian-based healthcare software developer. The partnership will integrate Demetra’s skin imaging platform with MediPortal’s Mediris Electronic Health Record (EHR) system, creating a seamless workflow for dermatologists in performing skin examinations.

Demetra helps improve patient care by providing visualizations and insights at the point of care that support the clinician’s decision on management strategies, diagnosis, treatments and follow-ups with their patients. Mediris is an online platform built to support health care professionals to collect, store, manage and transmit a patient’s electronic medical record in a secure way. The integration will allow a clinician to access patient demographics from Mediris on Demetra’s point of care diagnostics device and then provide access to the diagnostic imaging via Mediris’ EHR platform.

“We are excited to announce the partnership and integration of Demetra with MediPortal’s Mediris EHR,” states Peter Kinhan, Vice President of Demetra. “MediPortal is an innovative and fast-growing healthcare software developer and we look forward to further collaborating with them. The integration will allow Dermatologists to connect our imaging and analysis technology into their standard workflow, improving their efficiency and overall user experience.”

“The integration of Demetra into the Mediris EHR is a great opportunity for our clinical partners to benefit from both Demetra’s state-of-the-art technology and our innovative, fast-growing EHR. We look forward to continuing to partner with Demetra as they further innovate in the field of dermoscopic imaging,” said Cliff De Clerck, CEO of MediPortal.
